Ka Pilina No‘eau
Ka Pilina No‘eau will partner with elementary and middle schools in Hawai‘i to improve mathematics and science outcomes of Native Hawaiian Kindergarten through 8th grade students by providing after-school student programs and parent workshop interventions where participants engage in hands-on and Native Hawaiian cultural STEM lessons and activities.
Ka Pilina No‘eau is built upon two projects: the Ka Pilina project and Project TEAMS. Both of these projects have been proven to improve math and science outcomes of middle and high school students through hands-on, online, and mentoring activities that emphasized STEM in cultural activities and in the real world.

Project BEAM
Project BEAM aims to increase the number of mathematically promising Native Hawaiian, Native American, Pacific Island, and Hispanic students by providing weekend and virtual student interventions where participants engage in hands-on, real-world and culturally based algebra lessons and problem solving. Through our intervention, we aim to improve students’ math achievement and better prepare students for advanced/honor courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) once they are in high school.
