Introduction & Pre-Survey

Keeping our Keiki Lead-Free is a training for families of young children and people who support them. Lead poisoning is the most preventable environmental health threat to children in the United States. In Hawai‘i, only 1 out of every 4 children are tested for lead exposure, and families often do not get the information they need to protect their children from the many lead sources all around them. This course will provide detailed information on how to prevent lead exposure, how to catch exposure early if it has already occurred, and how to help lead-exposed children overcome the harmful effects of lead. This course will also provide tools for families of young children and those who support them.

These tools include:

  1. Education topics for families
  2. Information on how to test for lead and get rid of it
  3. An implementation protocol for providers working with young children
  4. A list of compiled resources and handouts for families

Note: You must complete course in entirety to receive certificate of completion.

To get started with the course, begin with the pre-survey.
