Parenting a child with special needs can be a puzzling journey. The Special Parent Information Network of Hawai’i, SPIN, helps families put together the pieces of the puzzle, so they can have a clearer vision of where they are heading. SPIN tries to make the journey of parenting a child with disabilities a little less puzzling by keeping families linked to important information through a variety of media and events.

The Early Intervention Section (EIS) is a federal and state-mandated program that provides services to support the development of infants and toddlers from birth to three years of age. Information and support are also provided to parents to increase their knowledge about and ability to support their child’s development.

The Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement (LDAH) provides a Parent Training Training and Information Center for Hawai’i and the Pacific Islands. LDAH works with partner organizations and local communities to provide information and referral, mentoring and advocacy, and education and training to parents and families members of children with disabilities and the professionals who service them. Resources include information for educational testing, SPED tutoring, specialized resources and transitions.

Hilopa’a is a state of Hawaii not-for-profit organization staffed by veteran advocates to provide parents and caregivers of someone with special health care needs the assistance to navigate to better health. Hilopa’a is your one-stop for information and referral, technical assistance and training. This Center is staffed by parents and friends of children with special health care needs. We provide free, confidential assistance to families and self advocates and the professionals who serve them.
