STEM Exploration Lesson

Electricity: It's Electric Game

Grades: K-1

Time: 30 minutes

Overview

Play a game to think about what objects use and do not use electricity.

Introduction

All of the objects we will look at in the activity below are examples of inventions. That means that at one time many, many years ago, people did not have airplanes, televisions, cars, computers, batteries, cell phones, blenders, refrigerators, or stoves, just like there was a time when people didn’t have light bulbs.

The Hawaiian objects were all invented by the ancient Hawaiian people. Yes, that’s right: the ancient Hawaiian people were inventors! They invented so many things to help them with their daily lives. What’s amazing is that we can still use these inventions today!

In this game, you will click and drag the objects below to sort them by if they use or do not use electricity.

Objects that do not use electricity should be placed on the left side and objects that do use electricity should be placed on the right side.
