Eligibility Determination

  1. From the instruments collected from the second step, we will identify the students who either are (a) recognized by teachers or parents/guardians to have potential in math and creativity, as rated by the SIGS, an/or (b) self-rated to have strength in logical-mathematical intelligence, as measured by the MIDAS. Then, we will develop a pool of eligible students and report the student codes to the schools.
  2. With the list of eligible student codes, we will give schools parent/guardian consent forms and student assent forms to officially recruit the eligible students to participate in our project for 50 hours. Throughout a year, students can choose to participate in one of the BEAM programs.  Each semester, a 10-week program (5 hours per week) will be provided.  During a summer break, 2-week programs (25 hours per week) will be provided.
  3. We will not allow students who already participated in the project to participate in the following year.
