This manual is intended for school principals, teachers, reading specialists, community agencies, non-profit organizations, or anyone who is interested in developing a supplementary reading tutorial program to help students with reading difficulties. The ACE Reading Program trains and supports volunteer community partners as tutors and coordinators of the program within their schools or community-based settings. We have described the procedures and activities in simple language, avoiding technical terminology as much as possible, so community partners without specialization in reading can understand and follow through. This manual is based on experiences of over 7 years of research and actual implementations and observations. This manual is still a work in progress, enriched through implementation and practice, and we would appreciate your contacting the project staff with any questions you might have or input for improvement.
