Calling All Emerging Leaders! CDS HI UCEDD Trainee Program

The next cohort for the Center on Disability Studies (CDS) University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) Hawai’i Trainee (HI UCEDD Trainee) program will begin in the Spring 2024 semester. There are over 4,000 trainees enrolled in the nation’s Association of University Centers on Disabilities AUCD programs. The program is open to individuals holding a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with an interest in utilizing the disability lens and framework to make an inclusive community in any field/discipline of their choice; especially for those with developmental disabilities and their families. Trainees form a network and can learn from each other by discussing and sharing their passion and vision related to service leadership in the fields of disability. Trainees will be individuals interested in pursuing advanced coursework in the 15-credit Interdisciplinary Certificate in Disability and Diversity

Benefits

Trainees will:

  • Advance their knowledge of the core functions of the UCEDD in the areas of education, research, information dissemination, and community service.
  • Network by attending seminars with disability leaders and completing a service-learning project focused on improving an issue facing individuals with disabilities or their families.
  • Be eligible for up to 6 credits in the Interdisciplinary Certificate in Disability and Diversity and a $3,000 stipend.
  • Have free attendance at the Pac Rim International Conference on Disability & Diversity.
