UH Manoa Center on Disability Studies Brings a Culturally Responsive, Medically Accurate, Standards Based Sexual Health Curriculum to Hawai‘i Middle Schools

Studies (CDS) in 2012 as part of a U.S. Office of Adolescent Health grant. CDS was awarded the highly competitive grant to design a teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention curriculum for Hawai‘i middle school youth. Pono Choices is medically accurate, culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate sexual health curriculum for middle school youth designed to meet the rigorous standards of an evidenced-based review and, more importantly, to reduce teen pregnancies and STI transmission.
